You can prevent WhatsApp users from viewing dp, status and last seen. Likewise, you can also prevent WhatsApp groups from being added.
Control WhatsApp Group invites with Android
- Open WhatsApp on your Android device and click the vertical three-dot icon in the top right corner.

- Then touch Settings> Account> Privacy>

- Then tap Groups and choose one of three options: Everyone, My Contacts, or My Contacts Except.

Switch to the “My Contacts” option so that only the people in your contact list can add you to a group. Then select the “Except my contacts” option. You can select specific people from your phone contacts that you cannot add directly to a group.
What to do to prevent someone from adding you to a WhatsApp group on an iPhone
Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and select Settings in the bottom bar.
Then tap Account> Privacy> Groups.

When someone tries to add you to a group, they’ll see an Invite a Friend button instead. When they tap on it, you will receive a call to join the group as a personal message. It is all you have to do to be in a group that you have nothing to do with. Make sure the WhatsApp on your device is the latest version before following the steps.
