You can transfer ownership of a motor vehicle electronically through the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) website.
In the following you will learn how to transfer a logbook
Register for the TIMS
Go to https://times.ntsa.go.ke/login csp.jsp.
All parties (buyer and seller) need to create individual accounts.
Click the REGISTER AND ACCOUNT button and select the registration options (individual, car dealer, financial institution, or corporation).
Please fill in the details as needed
To get an SMS alert for a hidden code that confirms a good transaction, click the SMS subscription option in the top right corner.
How do I do the transfer
To access the menu, press the VEHICLE REGISTRATION button.
Tap on MOVE APPLICATION OF PROPERTY
Click the Create NEW button and the key for the vehicle registration number
To find out more about the car, click INQUIRIES.
Then press the display key for more details
Upload a scanned copy of your logbook
Under new vehicle, the seller can choose whether it is a company, a company, a dealer or a financial institution.
Enter the national ID number when transferring as a unit
If you are acting as a company, click the ADD option in the PIN number.
Select Smartphone to proceed with the security check.
Select SEND VERIFICATION CODE and enter the code you received on your phone.
When the seller clicks Submit, the buyer will receive an SMS notification that the vehicle has been handed over to them and that they are expected to approve or reject the transfer.
To accept the transfer
Log in to https://times.ntsa.go.ke/login csp.jsp.
Tap Display to view the details of the vehicle
Select the authentication mode for security verification and press Submit to get the code on your computer.
The key to review and either ACCEPT or DENY the transfer (Refusal will reject the vehicle back to the owner)
When you click ACCEPT, please provide the required details.
Then click SUBMIT to submit an application to NTSA for processing.
Your logbook will be ready in seven working days.
